Brewery: Balter in Currumbin, QLD Style: XPA ABV: 5% RateBeer: 83/100 Pour: Deep yellow with a thin white head This XPA has beautiful tropical notes, a warmer and thicker body and mouthfeel and is perfect example of a good XPA. So good, it was rated Australia’s best beer in 2018 in the GABS Hottest 100 beer poll. This goes well with the one day cricket on and box of BBQ Shapes … Continue reading Balter – XPA
Brewery: Hawkesbury Brewing in Brooklyn, NSW Style: Pacific Ale ABV: 4.2% IBUs: 18 RateBeer: No rating yet Pour: Slight mandarin tinged yellow colour. Small hard on pour. Crisp, clean ale with a slight fruit hop bitterness. I still say Stone & Wood own the pacific ale style and this is closer to a hoppy summer ale. Good beer to have after a busy Saturday morning running around taking the kids to … Continue reading Hawkesbury Brewing – Pacific Ale
Brewery: Colonial Brewing in Melbourne, VIC Style: IPA ABV: 6.5% RateBeer: 65/100 Pour: Orange sunset in colour with a white foamy head that decreases. This is all the things an IPA should be. Little bitter, hint of zest and pine. Easy enough to drink and lingers on the palate well after it’s travelled down the throat. Well crafted and very enjoyable. This is a beer to enjoy at a Christmas party … Continue reading Colonial Brewing – I.P.A
Brewery: Coopers Brewery in Adelaide, SA Style: Vintage Ale/English Strong Ale ABV: 7% RateBeer: 77/100 Pour: Murky brown colour with a small head Quite sharp with flavour. Very malty and peppery in finish. Would be interesting to see how this beer settles flavour wise if left cellared for a few years. I’d suspect it will be smoother and more rich. But I’m not one to let a beer sit that long … Continue reading Coopers – Vintage Ale 2018
Brewery: Five Barrel Brewing in Wollongong, NSW Style: IPA/NEIPA ABV: 6% IBUs: 20 RateBeer: No rating yet Pour: Creamy yellow colour with a milky white head My milkshake brings all the boys to the bar/you’re damn right/it’s better than yours. I really didn’t want to do that as much as I had to do that. This is a delicious hazy IPA. Heaps of fruity hop flavours. Subtle carbonation and very, very … Continue reading Five Barrel Brewing – Milkshake IPA
Crawls are generally walkable. Kept to a maximum of 7 locations. Where the distance to the next location is greater than 15min, I’d suggest taking a roadie or uber/cab.
The great thing about Australia’s growth in to the craft beer scene is there are more and more places putting on great beer to drink. Most places will have at least some alternative to Tooheys, VB, Carlton and XXXX. Sydney houses some great craft beer bars but where the aforementioned beer is frowned upon. This pub crawl will cover some of the city’s finest, which will you see you crawl around the CBD and see all the fabulous sights that Sydney has to offer – from the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Darling Harbour and The Rocks. This is a great sightseeing, craft beer pub crawl.Pub List: Pumphouse Hotel Sweeney’s The SG Harts Pub Lord Nelson Brewery * 15min to next pub – uber it Beer Deluxe All Hands Brewhouse (formerly King St Brewhouse)

Brewery: Hawkesbury Brewing in Brooklyn, NSW Style: Pale Ale ABV: 4.2% IBU: 26 RateBeer: No rating yet Pour: Bright yellow hue with a small white head on pour I think this is more closer to a pacific ale than the one I had the other day. Very clean with subtle stone fruit in the hop profile. I only bought this one because the label had my name on it. Continue reading Hawkesbury Brewing – Pale Ale
